10 Tips to prepare for and enjoy your ski holiday at Chalet Bluebell

Whether it’s your first ski holiday or your tenth, a little preparation goes a long way and there’s plenty to look forward to once you arrive. Here are our top ten tips to help you get ready for skiing and make the most of your time at Chalet Bluebell.

1. Sort out your gear and bookings – Make sure your ski equipment, lift passes and lessons are all organised. We can help you arrange your ski hire, passes and lessons so you can hit the slopes stress-free. Remember to sharpen your skis and wax your edges. Don’t forget to check your ski boots, gloves, goggles and of course, make sure those salopettes fit from last season.

2. Strengthen those legs – do your squats, lunges and prepare your core with some planks and sit-ups.

3. Practice off the snow – Dry slopes, indoor ski centres, or even a hallway slide, anything to get your balance and confidence ready.

4. Pack smart layers – Check the webcams and weather forecasts so you don’t freeze or overheat. Bring layers of different thicknesses that can be added and removed easily.

5. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate– Your body will thank you for more water and less Prosecco… at least until après-ski time!

6. Mental prep – Watch skiing videos or visualise yourself carving down the piste. Confidence is half the fun.

7. Plan your après-ski and extra experiences – From mulled wine and hot chocolate watching the torchlight descents, to the Les Gets all-seasons luge or the forest night walk Alta Lumina, we’ll help make sure you know where the fun is off the slopes!

8. Relax and unwind – Take time in the hot tub after a day on the slopes or curl up in front of the fire at Chalet Bluebell, sipping an apéro and enjoying canapés. You may even take a day off the slopes to enjoy relaxing in one of the spas in Les Gets

9. Savour the evenings – Enjoy your 3-course dinner accompanied by wines around the convivial table at Chalet Bluebell, making friends and memories that will last long after your holiday.

10. Pack your smile – Skiing isn’t about perfection. It’s about laughter, the view and the wonderful memories (plus surviving the occasional tumble).
