Discover Les Gets in the Summer

Summer in Les Gets
What a fantastic week we have had in Les Gets, running, hiking, cycling, swimming in the lake and following a few stages of the Tour de France. As a family we have enjoyed over 20 years of skiing holidays in the Portes du Soliel, many with Jane and Rob at Chalet Bluebell. It’s taken us a few years to head to the village in the summer, only to discover how much there is to do there. The hiking and trail runs on the Chavanne and on Mont Chery are amazing with some wonderful views and lots of places to stop for much needed refreshments.
Cycling the Cols around les gets
The boys are keen cyclists – Ross is semi-pro, cycling for a Cornish Team, St Piran. Dad, Simon, isn’t far behind Ross! And me, Mum, Aileen, is a recent convert to the sport!!
It was great to tackle some of the Cols, many that are much more familiar when covered in snow. On skis, The ‘Chocolate Box’ feels quite flat, it appears to be much steeper when cycling up the famous Col du Joux Plane.
Summer Activities in Les Gets
There really is something for everyone in the wonderful diverse mountain resort of Les Gets in summer. From Mountain Biking on world-class tracks, to road cycling on Tour de France cols. Visiting the Alta Lumina, an amazing sound and light show in the forest, the largest in Europe. A stunning 18-hole golf course, trail running on signposted mountain paths, paragliding with professionals, a fabulous swimming lake with an aqua park on, wellness and relaxing moments at one of the luxury spas…So many activities, games, entertainment for children and sports accessible to all.
